Found my Formicide demos the other day...they were BY FAR the BEST thrash metal to come out of Boston BAR NONE. Kevin was so damn talented on guitar and the production was tighter than a gnat's ass. Maybe a cd is in order...anyone remember this amazing band?

In all seriousness, that shit is killer. I grew up down the street from kevin and eric, a pivotal part in my early interest in metal/thrash/punk/hardcore/whatever the frig you want to call it.
Seriously underrated in the day, and appreciated now by the few.

I do. They sang about ants and they fucking ruled. I remember seeing them in the late 80s at Dracut high school with Atomicaust, Hearing Impaired, and Blatant Disregard. Good times.

Haha, Atomicaust, I went to school w/them, they were killer back in the day. And Formicide kicked my ass. The only song that comes to mind right now is Frozen Death.

I was at that Dracut show too. do you remember there was a guy on right side of the stage playing air guitar for the whole show!

I have the 1st formicide demo and maybe the 2nd one, but would love this stuff on disc. I never knew "Dying System" was a Formicide sound, I assumed it was just an Only Living Witness song.

Anyone remember a local Methuen band called Krucix? They played with Atomicaust a few times when they became Nerve Womb.

I miss me some Atomicaust and Formicide, I'll tell you that.

I have the first two tapes...... Eric (the drummer) stopped by my store, picked them up and burned them onto cd. He also gave me demo number 3 (after his brother left the band just before Only Living Witness was formed). So, I've got all 3 on cd. I don't have a cd burner yet. But, I'm sure I could bring it over to the Screaming Ferret studios and make copies........

Good to see some of you old 'n's still around! Duff, I did play in Hearing Impaired at that show too, we had 2 guitar players. I can' t believe Rob is still around these parts and posting on RTTP!!!! I have tons of old demos from the 80's (punk, hardcore, & metal)so if anyone is looking for something specific, drop me a line. I have pretty much every demo mentioned in this thread and then some. I used to do a radio show on WJUL in Lowell called "Rotten to the 'Core" so I got hundreds of demos and interviewed just about all the New England area bands playing extreme music back in those days....Thanks to everyone who came out to see Ichabod w/ Today is The Day a couple o' weeks back by the way.

Yes, formicide was basically a Tewksbury band. I have a couple of songs off the first demo at www.nema.com/nsx/formicide if you want to check it out. Dumped from ancient tapes so the quality isn't all that.

I really need to set up some kind of reunion fest, with a lot of oldschool bands, even if they just played a few songs (like 2-3 each) and shared gear, for fun.

Krucix, Terrasphere, Wargasm, Subjugator, Deslok, Demise, CSDO, Formicide, Atomicaust, Meliah Rage, Cardinal Sin, PBA, etc, etc and then toss on a few newer bands like mine that fit in.

It would be a good time. Maybe some day something like that can happen. Boston has a pretty rich thrash/speed heritage.

We should just do an Extinction Agenda covers album, where we cover songs from each old thrash band, and maybe some Dungeonbat and December Wolves too.

So hard to find any info on Terrasphere anymore, one of the Methuen legends besides Krucix.

I remember Frank and Terrasphere...that would be a killer concept...a local thrash band releasing covers of former thrash bands...I'd buy that!

terrasphere's one of the few that actually got a release on a decent label, which make it stranger that there's little info out there.

Fuckin' Formicide. I sent them money for their demo and never got it. I got a letter back from them about there being a delay. Later I got another one one with a sticker and something else about a delay, and no demo. I was a teen of course and it kinda annoyed me. Luckily I obsessively download on soulseek and I finally - after all these years - got their demos. They're good demos too.

Still a little pissed off ney never sent it to me.

One of my best friends as a teenager played bass in Skeletal Onsalught. I have no memory of Spectral Incursions though.

I have a Slaughter Shack demo tape and a Poseidon tape. I need to get some T.I. shit and all the other old Boston area metal bands as I lost almost all my tapes and zines in 1992.

Experiments in Fear =Demise...it was a bad idea for us to change our name and the reasoning was silly too but hind site is 20/20,,,I ALWAYS refer to us as Demise.

Auditiry Imagrey - definately progressive. The only standout song I remember was "Into the Abbatoir"

And Bad Karma had the one armed guitar player...ballsy!!

The few times I saw them he had his right arm in some sort of sling and just played the fret board with his left hand.. Also he lived up the street from me.

I'm not sure I remember that band. It's the one name mentioned that does not ring a bell with me, so I have not seen the fabled one-armed thrashing guitar player :(

Spectral Incursion ... steve lytle, jim maz (old csdo) ... they were like ... mid to late 80's i think ... i remember being floored with the music .. it wasn't thrash ... it was heavy (in those days) but had this really bizarre quirk ... it ruled.

remember youth with bats? i remember playing with them liek, all the time, they palyed every show that would let them, and was always amazed how they would smash their gear ... every night! then i played with them and my mint rocket roll ibanez v was stolen ... then i understood how they did it.

I have a Poseiden tape, a Subjugator tape (no cover or track listing), a Slaughter Shack tape (4 song demo).

Also the first Sam Black Church demo (no cover or track listing). I think this tape is sick!

Sam Black Church was awesome. I used to follow that band around. The new band Jetfuel is pretty cool too but they don't do anything with it.

Whats up Rich... good to hear from ya.The kid is doin great, but not sure about the football part. He did lacrosse last year, but i dont think he will play football. He is into computers too much, i think maybe game designing ect. Yea we all are excited about the cd being released. I personally feel its like icing on the cake after a long musical career. I am just happy to see that people still enjoy our music.

I remember Cardinal Sin. I saw them at Green St. Station in Boston backing up Democracyde. They kicked ass. I had there demo but lost it. I remember songs like R.G.S.O.T. I thought for sure they would make it into the mainstream. I also remember Eric from Deslock.

All this brings back good times from the good music days.

Did you guys forget about Temporary Insanity??? They were one of the best thrash bands in Boston in the late 80's.

I Played guitar in Deslok for a couple years (1988 to 1990), somewhere about that time. Those were some of the best times for Metal in Boston. The Channel, Bunraties, Green Street Station, Club Surrender, The Rat, The Paradise, Sneakers (in NH on Sailsberry Beach). Those were the days!!!

I had a Deslok tape, got it at Rockit Recahhhds in Nashua awhile ago. I remember it being pretty decent death/thrash style stuff.

Yeah, Rockit Recahhhds used to be in Sagus, MA at one time as well. I have no idea if it is still there.

Another old metal fart from NH wants to see Formicide again! I just ordered two copies of the re-release. I saw Meliah Rage and Metal Church last week and it felt like I stepped back in time (to the good old days). Also would like to see another 12 band show happen with Deslok, Bad Karma, Nervewomb, C.S.D.O., Wargasm, SamBlackChurch etc.

This is so weird, I used to go to so many metals shows and I've been away from the seen for more than a decade and a half. I used to play in Skeletal Onslaught, I never thought I would come across those words again. Is it possible to find the channel t-shirts anywhere? This sight has brought up so many great memories...

Yeah man, Subjugator, Scarecin, Toxic narcotic, Sam Black Church, witness, Wargasm, so many good bands. I remember Peanut Butter and Anarchy, we played some Shows together, I think we played in someones back yard together too.

Oh yeah, I vaguely remember that. In fact, the only thing I remember about it was it was someone's birthday who got hammered, and proceeded to vomit while screaming.

Heya steve, I don't think I've talked to you since I ran into you and Jen (Autumn) T. at that freak club in Boston a decade ago! Congrats on the re-release! Please say yo to kevin and roy for me if you still talk to them. i hope kevin is well, i read about his health issues a while back. BTW, if you're interested I recently dumped an Eleven band practice to DVD, it's pretty amusing to watch after all these years .

Yes Rob i got the DVD's and the ywere great. Hard to believe thats how Formicide actually started. Who would have thought? Great memories. Great songs and a little comedy show between songs. The good old days. I talk to Eric alot but rarely see or speak with Kevin. I will pass on you regards. Me? Right now i am on the other side of the planet in Thailand, so i don't miss the cold!!! I got a number of boston thrash demo's on MP3 with some sort or art work and close to or exactly the same to original form (songs in order, song names, some art work, etc). Ill send them to whoever if there is a way. I used to email complete albums to people before Google did this last upgrade of theirs. It hasn't worked since then. I am more interested in physical copies but would accept MP3, I have most of what I want. Formicide, Deslok and Temporaty Insanity have released all their demo's on CD now and I wish Infestation (Infestation might )and Subjugator would do the same but I would even pay for tapes of those bands at this point, Scarcin too. Wargasm why play around is out on a different label (Dark Symphonies label) I got one of 1000 with obi, sticker and poster from Bob Mayo, awesome shit.
