Found my Formicide demos the other day...they were BY FAR the BEST thrash metal to come out of Boston BAR NONE. Kevin was so damn talented on guitar and the production was tighter than a gnat's ass. Maybe a cd is in order...anyone remember this amazing band?

toggletoggle post by subjugate   at Dec 8,2004 8:17am
i do i have their demos on cd somewhere

toggletoggle post by MASlayer at Dec 8,2004 9:24am
did you burn them yourself?

could someone please hook me up?
I've been looking for this band for a while.

80's thrash > life

Jim the Wargasm CD you made for me still reigns,
all I have of possible interest to you for trade are
--------------------------------------------------
Metallica Stockholm 9/26/86 Cliff's last gig
Slayer Hollywood Palladium 4/19/85
Slayer Nowloft Baltimore 11/9/84
Slayer Birmingham 4/19/87
Venom Ritz NY 4/4/86

all on cassette rather than CD. If you have 'em already I'll send ya some media/postage $$$?

do you want a tape or cd? I can make a tape of the 2 demos BUT...there was a NEVER RELEASED 3 song demo before they broke up that is very rough and a low mix...I am trying to find someone with recording/mixing equipment to bring those songs up to par so to speak...if you don't care I can make a tape...if you want to wait, I'll be here and keep you posted...and yes...'80's thrash =life

No not pressing a cd and not costing me a dime...Ken is doing it as a favor. I'll gladly make copies for people who want them just because they were THE BEST THRASH BAND FROM BOSTON BAR NONE. Kinda like tape trading...wish they were still around...

Formicide? those muthafuggas from south tewksbury?
Thats some hefty shit, those dudes kicked my ass behind the little peach in the 80's cause I didn't have the cash to buy their demo.

In all seriousness, that shit is killer. I grew up down the street from kevin and eric, a pivotal part in my early interest in metal/thrash/punk/hardcore/whatever the frig you want to call it.
Seriously underrated in the day, and appreciated now by the few.

I do. They sang about ants and they fucking ruled. I remember seeing them in the late 80s at Dracut high school with Atomicaust, Hearing Impaired, and Blatant Disregard. Good times.

toggletoggle post by Septicemic  at Jul 13,2005 11:45pm
Haha, Atomicaust, I went to school w/them, they were killer back in the day. And Formicide kicked my ass. The only song that comes to mind right now is Frozen Death.

toggletoggle post by duff138 at Jul 14,2005 12:15pm
I was at that Dracut show too. do you remember there was a guy on right side of the stage playing air guitar for the whole show!
Actually have the Blatant Disregard, Atomicaust, and Hearing Impaired demo still.
I have the 1st formicide demo and maybe the 2nd one, but would love this stuff on disc. I never knew "Dying System" was a Formicide sound, I assumed it was just an Only Living Witness song.
Who else has the Blind Surgeon Demo, with Jonah Jenkins on vocals? Amazing shit!

toggletoggle post by duff138 at Jul 14,2005 12:18pm
I have some cool pictures I took of Formicide at The Channel. Eric's hanging from the Woman's bathroom sign!

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Jul 14,2005 12:29pm
Dude, I would also love some of those demos on disc.

I remember Blind Surgeon. Do you remember the band Deslok? Cardinal Syn who was around here for awhile? Peanut Butter Anarchy? Subjugator? Demise, who had a silly song 'Pizza Guy'?

Anyone remember a local Methuen band called Krucix? They played with Atomicaust a few times when they became Nerve Womb.

I miss me some Atomicaust and Formicide, I'll tell you that.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Jul 14,2005 12:36pm
deslok- have that demo too. just discovered Daryll from Milligram was the guitarist, and Eric from Grief had played with them, but was not on the demo.
after these weekend I'll try and get all my demo i have onto the computer. i think i still have:

formicide
atmocaust
nervewomb
blind surgeon
chapter 4
chief suck face
wargasm
psychosis
deslok
blatant disregard
hearing impaired
afterbirth

probably more too, just can't think of them

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Jul 14,2005 12:43pm
a few more:

Only living witness - both demos (prone mortal form demo songs sound better than the one on the album, i think)
Blind surgeon- 2 demos- one with J.Jenkins on vocals

I remember All of it. I should know. I played guitar for Hearing
Impaired at that show. We threw a 4 foot diameter beach ball into the crowd,
and I wasn't watching it. It came back and hit the neck of my guitar . Then the tuning peg cut my eye open. I was bleeding like a stuck pig.
I had to use Loie the drummer's shirt to wipe the blood from my eye.
But I played the whole set ! If you have the hearing Impaired
demo, there's a song called If Frank Sinatra was a Skinhead. Kevin
from Formicide did the Frank Sinatra impersonation on that.
Unfortunately, I no longer have a playable Hearing Impaired tape
anymore. Its all warbly and stuff. If anyone has it on cd or something,
please e-mail me at: recklessrob@juno.com

I have the first two tapes...... Eric (the drummer) stopped by my store, picked them up and burned them onto cd. He also gave me demo number 3 (after his brother left the band just before Only Living Witness was formed). So, I've got all 3 on cd. I don't have a cd burner yet. But, I'm sure I could bring it over to the Screaming Ferret studios and make copies........

I have tons of old demos from the 80's (punk, hardcore, & metal)so if anyone is looking for something specific, drop me a line. I have pretty much every demo mentioned in this thread and then some. I used to do a radio show on WJUL in Lowell called "Rotten to the 'Core" so I got hundreds of demos and interviewed just about all the New England area bands playing extreme music back in those days....Thanks to everyone who came out to see Ichabod w/ Today is The Day a couple o' weeks back by the way.

You probably wouldn't remember me by name, so no worries there!

But I used to know some of the guys around Krucix, the Maciariellos, Steve Herdegen, etc. I played in a lot of metal/hardcore crossover type bands, Alert, etc. I probably saw more Krucix gigs in the old days, but I do remember seeing a few later gigs. Didn't you guys play with Nerve Womb (ex-Atomicaust) up in Manchester at some dive?

Thanks on the tracks. Yeah, Krucix was one of my early inspirations so if by some chance you guys get back together or anything, let me know if you need help (shows, etc). It's so great just to hear from you guys.

I really need to set up some kind of reunion fest, with a lot of oldschool bands, even if they just played a few songs (like 2-3 each) and shared gear, for fun.

Krucix, Terrasphere, Wargasm, Subjugator, Deslok, Demise, CSDO, Formicide, Atomicaust, Meliah Rage, Cardinal Sin, PBA, etc, etc and then toss on a few newer bands like mine that fit in.

It would be a good time. Maybe some day something like that can happen. Boston has a pretty rich thrash/speed heritage.

We should just do an Extinction Agenda covers album, where we cover songs from each old thrash band, and maybe some Dungeonbat and December Wolves too.

So hard to find any info on Terrasphere anymore, one of the Methuen legends besides Krucix.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Jun 10,2006 10:38am edited Jun 10,2006 10:38am
I might start with...

Atomicaust "Castle of Insane Minds"
Demise "Winds of Death"
Deslok "Relic of Depression"
Executioner "Eye of the Needle"
Formicide "The Perfect Race"
Only Living Witness "C.O.P."
Wargasm "Bullets & Blades"

and Krucix, Subjugator, etc.

I don't have access to all the demos/songs, that's the only problem. Another thing is I'm not sure how keen the band will be on the idea, I have no idea if they know/listened to any of these bands. I'm sure they'll help but it might take awhile.

Fuckin' Formicide. I sent them money for their demo and never got it. I got a letter back from them about there being a delay. Later I got another one one with a sticker and something else about a delay, and no demo. I was a teen of course and it kinda annoyed me. Luckily I obsessively download on soulseek and I finally - after all these years - got their demos. They're good demos too.

Still a little pissed off ney never sent it to me.

I might start with...

Atomicaust "Castle of Insane Minds"
Demise "Winds of Death"
Deslok "Relic of Depression"
Executioner "Eye of the Needle"
Formicide "The Perfect Race"
Only Living Witness "C.O.P."
Wargasm "Bullets & Blades"

and Krucix, Subjugator, etc.

I don't have access to all the demos/songs, that's the only problem. Another thing is I'm not sure how keen the band will be on the idea, I have no idea if they know/listened to any of these bands. I'm sure they'll help but it might take awhile.

That OLW tune is amazing!! "Lowell Police...YOU WILL PAY!!"

Demon, those bastards. Yeah I picked up one of their demos at the Dracut High school gig with Atomicaust, Blatant Disregard, and Hearing Impaired. I had a 2nd that I got at Rocket Records when that Mecca for Metal existed across from the Pheasant Lane Mall. And I know there was a third demo, that I never had at all.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Jun 10,2006 8:07pm
Dude, I TOTALLY remember Skeletal Onslaught....

Wasn't there a band around here called Spectral Incursions?

Those were both the best names ever....too bad they disappeared.

toggletoggle post by Craig at Jun 10,2006 8:14pm
Also, Slaughter Shack were one of my favorites back then. I used to go see Cardinal Sin, Atomicaust, Subjugator, Deslok, Wargasm, Bad Karma, Poseidon, Meliah Rage, Temporary Insanity, Experiments in Fear, Demise and so many others back then. Oh the days of being a teenager.

toggletoggle post by Craig at Jun 10,2006 8:16pm
One of my best friends as a teenager played bass in Skeletal Onsalught. I have no memory of Spectral Incursions though.

I remember Slaughter Shack, Poseidon, Temporary Insanity, etc.

Wasn't Experiments in Fear just Demise with a new name?

toggletoggle post by Craig at Jun 10,2006 8:45pm
I honestly cannot remember.

I have a Slaughter Shack demo tape and a Poseidon tape. I need to get some T.I. shit and all the other old Boston area metal bands as I lost almost all my tapes and zines in 1992.

toggletoggle post by maslayer at Jun 10,2006 9:09pm
Experiments in Fear =Demise...it was a bad idea for us to change our name and the reasoning was silly too but hind site is 20/20,,,I ALWAYS refer to us as Demise.

Spectral Incurion actually had an album...vibrations of doom has it online!

did you guys forget about bands such as Temporary Insanity, Necromancer, Bad Karma, shattered innocence(1989) and Auditory Imagery..... just some of the local southshore metal acts. Seth/Hekseri

Also the band damager from Everrett

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Jun 11,2006 4:17pm
Seth, I remember some of those.

Auditory Imagery, they were more of a prog style thing right, before Dream Theater took off?

Temporary Insanity ruled, and I remember Shattered Innocence and Damager also.

toggletoggle post by maslayer at Jun 11,2006 5:01pm
Temporary Insanity was great! "Sitting here in my room...waiting on impending doom!"

Auditiry Imagrey - definately progressive. The only standout song I remember was "Into the Abbatoir"

And Bad Karma had the one armed guitar player...ballsy!!

toggletoggle post by Craig  at Jun 11,2006 5:55pm
The few times I saw them he had his right arm in some sort of sling and just played the fret board with his left hand.. Also he lived up the street from me.

I'm not sure I remember that band. It's the one name mentioned that does not ring a bell with me, so I have not seen the fabled one-armed thrashing guitar player :(

The fact that there have probably been 15,000 bands called Bad Karma is not helping either :(

Skeletal Onslaught - wicked cool guys, used to love playing with those guys ... specifically remember the singer and guitarist ... awesome guys.

Spectral Incursion ... steve lytle, jim maz (old csdo) ... they were like ... mid to late 80's i think ... i remember being floored with the music .. it wasn't thrash ... it was heavy (in those days) but had this really bizarre quirk ... it ruled.

remember youth with bats? i remember playing with them liek, all the time, they palyed every show that would let them, and was always amazed how they would smash their gear ... every night! then i played with them and my mint rocket roll ibanez v was stolen ... then i understood how they did it.

I second Craig's request.

My demos of Deslok, Demise, Atomicaust, Subjugator and many others are long gone to where no pathway goes.

I've got some of the Krucix demos that Greg was cool to make available, and Rich has all the Formicide demos on a CD, which I must have...

I had started Peanut Butter Anarchy (I'm Damon, guitar). For the life of me I wouldn't have expected anyone to remember pba!

I got a number of boston thrash demo's on MP3 with some sort or art work and close to or exactly the same to original form (songs in order, song names, some art work, etc). Ill send them to whoever if there is a way. I used to email complete albums to people before Google did this last upgrade of theirs. It hasn't worked since then. I am more interested in physical copies but would accept MP3, I have most of what I want. Formicide, Deslok and Temporaty Insanity have released all their demo's on CD now and I wish Infestation (Infestation might )and Subjugator would do the same but I would even pay for tapes of those bands at this point, Scarcin too. Wargasm why play around is out on a different label (Dark Symphonies label) I got one of 1000 with obi, sticker and poster from Bob Mayo, awesome shit.
