macabre was awesome, and napalm death are the liveliest middle aged grind band in the world. amazing. |
|
Kataklysm: they played for 30 minutes, mostly "hits" so I knew a lot of the songs. I was just waiting for in shadows and dust to come on. 1/2 way through their set, they stopped and the drummer did a 2 minute drum solo that lead into a one handed hyper-blast on the snare and the rest of the band came out to continue playing.
Macabre: once again, I'm not really a fan of their cds, but live it's very entertaining. the drummer is awesome; never noticed that before. they played all songs that I already knew. They had an albert finch character come out doing that song.. and then a zodiac killer character for zooooo..deeeeeee..aaaaaaaaaac. that one had guns and shot me a few times.
Napalm Death: amazing live set. they must have played 25 songs in 55 minutes. everything from their new stuff (leaders cds) back to when they were death metal (breed to breath) and all the way to their grind core root. They played 3 covers; agnostic front, cryptic slaughter, and dead kennedys. I was very happy to hear breed to breathe, suffer the children, the covers, and scum (plus the tracks off that cd). the mic kept cutting out on them which was super annoying.
Cannibal Corpse: yep, they did play hammer smashed face second. through their whole set, I thought that the only song they could possibly end with was stripped raped and strangled. I was so proud of myself when they said that that was their last song (I mean the guitar riffs almost the same). that song ended and corpse grinder said "remember when I said that was the last song? I lied" and then they went into devoured by vermin. Not the best song to get with, but S,R,S was awesome. |
|
hey aaron -
can you tell Carina I am sorry I couldn't make it? Like the fucking idiot I am I lost her number (again) and couldn't figure out how to get in touch to tell her I couldn't make it.
tell her not to hate me forever and ever.
and Carina if you read this...umm we were recording. I swear it. |
|
and i bet you thought i lied aaron. yea the whole set i figured they were gonna close with SRS, but when they cut into devourd by vermin (he did the same intro "I lied" bit) i was quite happy and thought it was an awesome way to end the night.
p.s. does anyone else find it rather funny and oddly disturbing that an entire crowd sings along loudly to a song about raping and killing women (stripped, raped, and strangled)? |
|
Napalm Death owned.
Kalopsia, I don't think it's funny, I think it's awesome everyone sings along. It's the only song in death metal that can do it.
I thought the turn out seem a little bit smaller than usual cc palladium shows. i dunno maybe i just was feeling my first show 21 there a little to hard or something. still a great crowd though, solid turnout nonetheless.
Dwyer was a beast tonight!! |
|
Just got home. Awesome show. I mainly went to see CC and they did not disappoint at all. It was my first time seeing them live and I couldn't help but think of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective through their whole set...
Oh, and everyone should pick up the new Teratism CD. Holy fuck is it good. |
|
woo hoo i made to 1 - 4 shows this month i rule. Ha ! and i'm deaf. |
|
no worries nick =)
good times, great show!
i loved all the bands..but nd sorta stole the show for me
|
|
Napalm Death stole the show for me, I wouldn't have minded if they played a couple more songs. Macabre ruled, but I liked them better at MDF this past year. Kataklysm was alright I guess, I'm not too familiar with their material. They seemed sorta cheesy. Cannibal Corpse was Cannibal Corpse, I left half-way through their set cause I had a far drive. I think their newer songs sound better live than the older ones. |
|
Rev, it's Albert FISH! "Worse than any FISH in the sea"!
I didn't see you or Carina after the show or I would have hooked you up with TERATISM promo's... oh well, next time.
I am glad that you like it Jess, I am blown away by it too!
|
|
Macabre was the only band on the show |
|
im exhausted.... my lazy ass just woke up... i havent even uploaded my pics yet. it was a fun show.... i love kataklysm and as Maurizio said... it was very cool to see them play more than 3 songs hehehe
macabre... i had seen them before and thought they were annoying.... i guess i had a stick up my ass the last time i saw them... cuz they fucking ruled last night!!!! so much energy, so fun,,,, and they sounded awesome.
napalm death... ive seen ND so many times before and im not a huge fan soooo i pretty much shot my pics and took off for a while... i came back and watched some more of the set.... high energy and yeah the mic problem was annoying... but it was almost more annoying that they were freaking out about it when it was working... *shrug*
Cannibal.... i dont know if its cuz ive seen them sooooooooo many times or if i just wasnt in the mood for them last night, or if my tiredness finally caught up with me but i just couldnt get into them last night... i took my pics and then hung out in the office upstairs waiting to pass out flyers at the end of the night.
it was great to get a chance to talk with Alex and Ninkaszi.... man its been a long time since ive seen u guys... and always great to see rev and carina...and the sexual advances and being bent over the stage by Carina couldnt have been better.
ok time to work on pics |
|
Did anyone catch Kataklysm's setlist? I've found a few similar ones online, but they didnt match what was played last night. heres the one i found closest:
Ambassador of Pain
The Resurrected
Illuminati
Manipulator of Souls
As I Slither
Serenity in Fire
Drumsolo
Blood on the Swans
The Awakener
Where the Enemy sleeps
In Shadows and Dust
That was on may 10. Also, if someone knows what songs macabre played, that'd be awesome too. As for a review, Kataklysm kicked ass, Macabre had me laughing most of the time (very entertaining, i wanna see these guys again). Napalm Death didn't do too much for me. Im not a fan of their albums either. And Corpse: Stole the show. I'm surprised Fisher went through the entier set, with his lungs being messed up and whatnot. |
|
i was only there for macabre and part of napalm death. my friend hates napalm death, so we left during their set. i was so happy to see macabre again, after missing them at bill's bar last year. dennis the menace is one of my favorite drummers ever. corporate death wasn't as entertaining as he was last time i saw them, but the set was awesome and they closed with my favorite song, vampire of dusseldorf. the napalm death songs i caught were killer and i loved barney's dancing. it reminded me of the way mr. burns from the simpsons or ozzy osbourne would dance. |
|

Legacyovkings, they didn't end with in shadows and dust.
they played a song after that, but I forget which one |
|

|

the_reverend:
Yeah i think they closed with "ambassador of pain" (cause i remember hearing the word "pain".) However, would you know what song it was when their vocalist went "WE WILL TEAR YOU APART!" ? |
|

No I did not. I'm sorry.

you guys are crazy. i wish i had kept following you; that would have made for some great pictures ;) i kind of figured out that you were lost when you went up and down the same street a couple times, so i pulled over and asked for directions. i got your voice mail when i got home. lol. |
|
Hey guys ! this was my first fucking concert and i met cannibal corpse and got pics with them! they fucking kicked so much ass... and i was so drunk, it was the best night of my life |
|
I walked in on time for "Albert Was Worse...". What did I miss? I taped the show, and Macabre's set is the most listenable. Napalm Death sounds pretty bad, and Cannibal Corpse came out alright. The sound at the Palladium is horrible. My recordings from there always come out crappy. At least the beer's under $5.00. In any case, I was glad to see so many people going berzerk for Macabre. The last time I saw them was at Bill's Bar. Though it was a much better show, the turn-out was pretty shitty. Word. Go see Adolf Satan/Defcon 4 in a city near you. |
|
this was a solid show. just thought of it while thinking back on shows i've been to over the past decade. macabre ruled as usual. |
|
almost a decade ago.. wow... |
|
Odd necrobump.
I'm pretty sure I was at the show...I may have left during Cannibal Corpse, but I'm not sure. I know I've seen a full Cannibal Corpse set once, and part of one another time...just not sure when each was. |
|
If you've seen one full Corpse set, you've seen them all. |
