Hey Hulk, how come you didn't sing with Adam of PsyOpus last week?

He wanted you to do Angel of Death with him.

this show is gonna rule!

toggletoggle post by the_taste_of_cigarettes  at Oct 28,2004 2:00am
I think DitK is on first cause they gotta be home early (the guitarist is still in high school).

Then HBBSI

then it's fair game after that.

unfortunately, I think it costs. I don't drink so I can't remember how much it is for stuff....maybe it's cheap? The atmosphere is pretty cool, and they don't care if you dance.

Plus occassionally these peruvian ladies come in, and they are all done up like it's "The Decline Of Western Civilization" filiming.

CATALYST will be playing this evening's rock soiree. Ladies that come dressed as Alyssa Milano circa '97 get impregnated for FREE!!!

Review:

keep in mind this whole time my cold migrated to flu like symptoms and I got the worst headache ever. Plus nausea.

*Devil In The Kitchen -- Always fun, but the sloppiest set I've ever seen or heard them play. Even their practices are tighter. Still, Stashes solos saved the day, and I did a little Lord Of The Dance jig with one of the dudes from Valhalla (I believe his name is Adam...I'm TERRIBLE with names)

*HBBSI -- The stage antics were really funny. Not as good as last time I saw them but still fun. Really great grind if you like the old style of playing. Too much time between songs, but Monica's vocals get better every time. Over the past 3 shows she's really fleshed out as a member of the band. I even detected a little more emotion on her part, which is awesome.

*Catalyst - These guys were really good. The singer seemed off with the rest of the band...not quite in sync either time-wise or with the creative ideas they had. Nevertheless, great death metal. Why did they go on here? They brought some people and they were lost when they played so early. Either way, they were good. I do believe they are playing the Mucopus/Clitorture show in December.

*Valhalla - Yay! These guys are really fun. Ok, so they were sloppy. Ok, so you couldn't make out all the parts. And yeah, at times they seemed a tad amateuresque. But you know what? They're a good time, Brian's lyrics are AWESOME (dude, the stuff about forests and stuff is great!), and he's a really good front man. I was actual kinda scared...I think I understand that face make-up stuff now. I'm really looking forward to seeing this band Saturday, especially since everyone will be in garb. Give these guys a year, and a good chunk of praticing, and they will show up many bands in the area by being the only Black Metal band around...and the most tr00 at that!
Some Great riffs here. A tad repetitive (the drummer could fix this by doing a bit more as far as diveristy, to detract from it) and a bass player would help flesh out the feel of the tremolo picked parts. Give these guys some shows so they can grow more into being what they have the potential to be.

*The Taste of Silver -- We had a band practice on Tuesday and talked about stuff we can do to get tighter and have more presence live. I think it paid off because we had a lot of energy and were pretty tight for most of the set. We also mapped out the set before hand as far as songs, and did a set list (gasp!) so we wouldn't go to long or too short. That was a totally sweet move, one we should repeat. People were encouraging and I had a blast.

Now I must go die in a bed. I feel like shit. Love, me.

devil in the kitchen - see these guys before you die or move far away, they are amazing musicians, and they have a fiddle in the band, thier cd is sweet

humun bone bicycle science industries - best local band stage performance in local metal, period. they had a projecter to play movies whilst they played, too bad it wasnt workin or something. these guys slayed

catalyst - death metal from ct. there were pretty good, they drew in the crowd, being one of the home teams, definitely had some good material

valhalla - we were terrible, no excuses

taste of silver - i must say i was very impressed with these guys! no i see why nick calls tos music because there really there own brand (with a strong influence of hardcore of course) but collectively they played a kick ass set to end the night! look forword to play with you guys again at the pittsfeild massacre, which everyone should make it to or else!

long night and a long painful day at school but now home....

devil in the kitchen- amazing, these guys bring the fun into metal, and are talented beyond comperhension, i beg everyone to see this band at least once

HBBSI- i had no idea what to expect from them, but they slayed, great short songs and great jokes in between, they kept me laughing and entertained throughout there whole set! i wanted more! mon-i-ca's vocals are mind blowing, and just own about every female vocalist i've seen, robbie is also one of the nicest guys i've ever met hails!

catalyst- pretty good dm, i liked how the vocalist was ninjaing it up, the guitarist were excellent and tight as hell

valhalla- ugh, don't even get me started, AND THERE'S NO EXCUSES

ToS- awesome. you guys are your own set of music, i was hesitant at first cause i don't like hardcore, but you guys were so fucking great and proved me wrong! one of the best 3 piece bands i've seen, great vocals, excellent riffs, and your drummer owned every other drummer of the night, can't wait to hang with you guys tomorrow! nice meeting ya nick!

thanks for having us on the list, and thanks for future shows! (hopefully!)

devil in the kitchen- hahahahah oh man these guys were awesome, i didnt know what to expect and it blew me away, fucking great

hbbsi- funny as fuck, their drummer rob was hilarious on and off stage, monica had some beautifully brutal vocals- HOT SNAKES ON YOUR FACE!

catalyst- pretty sweet dm from hartford i believe? some kickass vocals and some nice stage presence with the kicks and shit- guitarists were tight as hell too

valhalla- we did play sloppily, i dont want to make excuses as brion and matt said but there were some times where there were hearing difficulties and brions amp kept going out i think, but we should have been able to overcome them- oh well- pittsfield massacre will be a better performance hopefully, we'll make sure there's no way we will be inhibited whether it be technically speaking or musically
i take credit for fucking up thoughts of perversion, i thought i heard a differenet part and realized it wasnt the right one
whatever- we have no reason to whine

tos- i didnt stay for all of your set cuz i had to get to work this morning early but i heard the first 2 or 3 and i must say it's some good shit, hardcore isnt really my thing, but you guys are extremely talented, very emotional stage presence from your singer, i look forward to seeing you guys again tomorrow and getting hammered with you
