All November shows at the Block will most likely be cancelled.
There are 3 more metal shows there for sure:

Oct 14th: Abhorred, Nefarious, Cryptic Warning, Porphyria. 9pm

Oct 16th: Cyhyreath (reunion show), Hirudinea, Ascendancy, A Cold Reality, Abhorred. 9pm

Oct 31: Raising Kubrick, Abhorred, Nefarious, Esuriem, It Will End In Pure Horror, Dissector. 2pm

what about the 30th with BoE and some other bands i dont care for.

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Oct 9,2004 8:46am
That is still happening.

toggletoggle post by spitfire  at Oct 9,2004 8:59am
that fucking blows, but you know the Block sucked anyway

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Oct 9,2004 9:04am
I liked the Block alot.

toggletoggle post by shatteredliz   at Oct 9,2004 9:09am
Why is it closing?

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Oct 9,2004 9:11am
Someone bought it off Jerry, and is turning it into an irish pub/restaurant. Boston obviously needs one of those, since there are none right now.

toggletoggle post by Dissector   at Oct 9,2004 9:33am
This fucking sucks!!!! What are you gonna do now Joe?

toggletoggle post by pessimist  at Oct 9,2004 9:50am
FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK.

they can't take our home

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Oct 9,2004 1:07pm
What the fuck?

Is O'Brien's still going to be focusing on indie shit, or has that crisis been stopped?

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Oct 9,2004 1:09pm

toggletoggle post by the_taste_of_cigarettes  at Oct 9,2004 1:24pm
god damn it

this means we need a venue bad now.

this all ages venue idea should move from "internet idea" to "real life discussion"

toggletoggle post by assuck   at Oct 9,2004 2:29pm
god dammit all to hell.

this ruined my day.

toggletoggle post by ArrowHead  at Oct 9,2004 6:31pm
The Block Sucked for metal. However, this is yet one less venue left for shows around here. It's starting to look pretty bleak for the local metal scene.

toggletoggle post by noosebomb666  at Oct 9,2004 6:38pm
THIS SUCKS. LONG LIVE THE BLOCK.

toggletoggle post by Aegathis nli at Oct 9,2004 6:48pm
god damn it , That show Nate got us in November would have been like our 1st show since july!! Somebody please help Leukorrhea out with some shows around here, im dying from not playing.

toggletoggle post by TOC NLI at Oct 9,2004 7:37pm

toggletoggle post by whiskey, weed, and women at Oct 9,2004 8:00pm
i know this might sound gay, but has anyone thought about talking to the Milky Way in JP, ManRays or TT Bears in central square about doing shows like the way Brian Morse started at O'Breins. just a thought

....

Doesnt sound like a bad idea. I know Manrays is some sort of a techno/goth club. Some chick almost actually got me to go there.

toggletoggle post by whiskey, weed, and women at Oct 9,2004 10:46pm
i know they're not metal or even club most of the people on here would step into but they are places, that have the means and an actual PA. so i dont know just a thought, since i can't find a drummer i was gonna call and go down to try and talk to some of these people.

toggletoggle post by the_taste_of_cigarettes  at Oct 9,2004 10:50pm
ManRay only occasionally does shows. Due to the fact they get a great "regular" crowd they don't need to do shows that frequently.

They DO do shows about once a month and it's usually for touring bands with maybe one local band supporting them. Almost always industrial.

People can try to rent it -- it's 19+, and there's no dress code for shows. The administration leaves much to be desired, but the space and sound are GREAT.

No moshing, I would think.

toggletoggle post by whiskey, weed, and women at Oct 9,2004 10:53pm
hey it would still be another place to have a show and if a turn out came i might be able to turn into something...gotta at least attempt to find another venue

toggletoggle post by the_taste_of_cigarettes  at Oct 9,2004 10:54pm
what would you turn into? a bat?

toggletoggle post by whiskey, weed, and women at Oct 9,2004 10:55pm
yes nick a bat, good answer

toggletoggle post by sinistas   at Oct 10,2004 7:14am
It's 21+, but the Skybar's pretty cool...

toggletoggle post by james_raov at Oct 10,2004 10:06am
boston

toggletoggle post by Sinofangels-ray at Oct 10,2004 10:42am
Man this sucks it seems what is happening in boston and surounding areas is the same thing that happened in PVD in the mid 90's. clubs shutting it's doors on metal or live acts for that matter. it's very sad for the local scene

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Oct 10,2004 11:47am
Do not worry anyone, I will continue to book shows if only to prevent metalcore from gaining a foothold in boston.

ha, that's classic

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Oct 10,2004 12:19pm
it may come down to assassinating key members of the metalcore scene.

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Oct 10,2004 12:23pm
I am willing to make that step.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Oct 10,2004 12:24pm
who do we whack first?

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Oct 10,2004 12:25pm

what are you, Geraldo? We're not going to reveal that kind of information publicly. This is war.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Oct 10,2004 12:51pm
ha, great geraldo reference. i was getting ahead of myself with that post. metalcore does that to me.

toggletoggle post by assuck   at Oct 10,2004 2:20pm
count me in

toggletoggle post by SacreligionDeuce at Oct 10,2004 3:15pm
that place has a good environment...everything else(the sound/stage/setup) is kind of shitty though. we still enjoyed ourselves the other night though. Hey Joe where were you on Friday I never got to introduce myself.

toggletoggle post by Robteratism at Oct 10,2004 3:32pm
The block was a cool place to have played...and i will have great memories of all the shows there....awesome times!

toggletoggle post by Dissector   at Oct 10,2004 3:37pm
So halloween is the last block show? Everybody has to come now to bid their farewells.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Oct 10,2004 4:20pm
No shit. This is fucked.

toggletoggle post by KING NOOSEBOMB at Oct 11,2004 8:00am
R.I.P CHOPPING BLOCK. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY I HAVE GREAT MEMORIES OF THE CHOPPING BLOCK. UNFORTUNATELY I USUALLY DONT REMEMBER MUCH WHEN I WAKE UP THE NEXT MORNING AFTER POUNDING PBR'S ALL NIGHT.

I talked to the bouncers over at TT's and they have a standing ban against metal in general, particularly death metal. For some reason, they tend to think that people get hurt at our shows.

Of course they lump the hardcore crowd together with our crowd.

Anyhoo.

surprise, surprise

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Oct 11,2004 10:49am
I get more depressed over this every day.

toggletoggle post by WhyamIandasshole at home at Oct 11,2004 11:11am
You might have a shot at the Milky Way. Harpers Ferry is a distant possability as well.

toggletoggle post by kellthevalkyrie  at Oct 12,2004 9:26am

toggletoggle post by Lincoln at Oct 12,2004 9:29am
