SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison will join Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON for their upcoming headlining U.S. tour, which is scheduled to kick off December 2 in San Francisco, CA.

The never-ending saga of SATYRICON drummer Frost's inability enter the U.S. due to heightened homeland security has united Satyr and longtime friend Joey Jordison for this three-week run of dates.

Satyr has questioned touring possibilities in the U.S. "Frost's Visa to enter the States case has made everything extremely difficult for us and there have even been times I've thought to give up on touring America," he said.

"I'm just very glad that we have a new tour lined up," he continued in a statement. "I think all of our fans stateside will agree that SATYRICON deserve a better chance to establish the band and our style of music we believe in than, more so than we've had so far. I think our music, our effort and all the people who believe in SATYRICON in the U.S. want us to succeed and Joey Jordison is a good example of that. I never had to convince him that touring with SATYRICON would be 'cool.' It was rather a question of overcoming the practical obstacles with Joey being a key member of a very successful band. His enthusiasm and skill is exactly what SATYRICON needs to raise the spirit in the camp. I have looked for drummers over here and most of them are afraid they can't match Frost's level of drumming so they pull out before we even get started with them. Joey and I have spent a lot of time making sure he is well prepared; and it is nice to be able to fulfill the wishes of all the fans I talked to on the MORBID ANGEL tour who wanted to see us play in America. SATYRICON is coming back!"

don decker told me he kicked the bass player out for getting drunk and talking about a homosexual fantasy he had, haha.

and the joey thing......if you hear it from his side...you'll hear "i wanted to be in a band that would actually progress and go somewhere"

if you hear it from decker, you'll hear "he was'nt fast enough, plus he's gay"
hahaha

as far as this tour,i don't care, slipknot is gay, and so is satyricon

i've heard a lot of stuff about the slipknot dummer being really good, but, i dunno, whatever. even if he is good, he's already shot himself in the foot by being in slipknot in the first place...

Metal people are too stuck up.

I don't think we have to worry about the "Maggots" showing up for Satyricon so who really gives a shit. If anything they'll be too busy sitting at home listening to the SHEER FUCKING BRUTALITY OF A7X, fags.

ok i know you all hate slipknot, and yes i like them, but from a musician's standpoint, Joey Jordinson IS a good drummer. he's very tight, has good speed, can blast, and pretty quick with his feet. i've seen the slipknot live DVD and he did a great job on it. so that's all i gotta say, Joey's a very good drummer.

Hmmm, I don't think Satyr realizes that Slipknot aren't wellrespected among american black metal fans...

I don't even think it is an issue of it being the drummer from Slipknot. In my mind, Frost is half of Satyricon, so why should only half the band be doing these shows?? I'm still gonna go, but as much as I want to see Satyricon (missed them last time), it just doesn't seem right.

Well dude, he's not from here. He's Norweigian obviously, and has been in America like only 1 or 2 times since Slipknot's become big. He's not American, and he doesn't hang out with a lot of Americans, so he has no real way of knowing.

i was so psyched to see Satyricon come back cause satyr said frost would be coming this time...im defintely surprised at his choice for a drummer....im sure they'll still be a brutal show but im not goin out of my way to see them this time....i saw them with trym...that was as close to frost as i'll get i guess

toggletoggle post by moran   at Oct 5,2004 8:19pm
He is an amazing drummer. One of the fastest I've heard, better than Lombardo in my opinion.

toggletoggle post by Hooker  at Oct 5,2004 8:25pm
He's undeniably good.

I liked the preface thing he wrote in the best of Deicide cd. I'd like to hear the shit he did with Metallica. It'd be cool to hear them with a good drummer.

bullshit!
i can deny it all damn day

his double bass speed??
are you fucking kidding!?!?!?!
i am probably not even in the top 10,000 drummers in metal, and i'm still fucking faster than that guy!!

good double bass = pete sandoval
good blasts = george torrez and brad from devourment

joey jordison is just an overrated douche chugger

alot of times they thicken his sound and/or make him sound faster in the studio by use of the 2 extra drummers
