New England has seen its share of crapass metalcore/fashion core bands. Thats a fact. But honestly, if you take a look at it, the majority of it is pretty much over. All those kids have moved onto other trends. Youth Crew is the new big trend. All the kids who, a few years ago, considered Daughters and Eyes Like Autumn the end all be all of music all dropped out for a while, some went on to be mods, most were borderline mods for a while, but alot of them started coming back to shows when the youth crew trend took off. It seems like they figured if they all bought Floorpunch records at the same time then they could get away with it without having to stop and question it.

So there you go. That's the new trend, borderline mods coming back to pass themselves off as "old school hardcore" kids. I'm sure there's plenty there for you all to work with.

annnnnnd go!

i think everyone here knows that youth crew sucks, so it doesn't need to get made fun of.

whereas there are kids like me who like some of the better metalcore bands, so metalcore will continue to be made fun of until i stop enjoying it... i assume.

why do people still listen to records?
they sound like ass and you can only listen to them where your record player is.

toggletoggle post by jesus hitler at Oct 4,2004 4:34pm
records dont sound like ass. they are inconvenient, but i prefer metal on record than on cd. cd sounds glossy to me. records sound louder. personal opinion i guess.

toggletoggle post by TheGreatSpaldino   at Oct 4,2004 4:38pm
records have a little bit better quality than cd. records take the actual original sound quality while cds are sort of weakened because of the dubbing bit rate or some shit like that. let me find that link that explains it...

they invented cds because they are more convient. you can't put a record player in a car, but you can a cd player. cds are smaller, so you don't need a huge shelf.

they weren't invetned because of the quality. the wave form on the record is more accurate than a CD is. depending on your needle and how good your turntable is why your records sound like shit.

what do you think 16 bits means? it means that only 16 bits of information are held within digital audio...which will never be the exact amount as the actual waveform.

the day when you get 32 bit 88.2K cds, they will sound better.

but calling someone who knows what he's talking about and is completely right stupid is one of the most ironic things.

i can scientifically prove you have no idea what you're talking about.

i also proved to you why cds replaced records... it was not because of quality it is because of convience.

probably not because the quality of a cassette changes after five plays. they get magnetized and don't give off the correct frequencies anymore.

it truncates the last 8 bits. unless you are burning a data cd with 24 bit quality. an audio cd cannot be encoded any higher than 16 bits.

it's gonna sound like the quality of the original compressed audio file. an mp3 sounds like ass anyway you have it. audio or data cd.

listen to the high end sometime. the cymbals get all static sounding...that's enough for me to not use mp3s for anything more than previewing cds.

toggletoggle post by TheGreatSpaldino   at Oct 5,2004 1:59am
320 kbps mp3's are cd quality... granted they are like 120012034892348X the file size of a 128 kbps mp3... but still... mp3's are more practical than cds, but only because you can fit about 100 songs on a cd (if you have a cd player that is mp3cd compatible) or you can just have an i-pod or one of those 40 gig mp3 players... but the sound quality is still not as good as a cd or record. you sacrifice a little of the quality for practicality. the cd is practical. not to mention a hell of a lot more durable than a record.

yeah, the human ear is not going to hear a difference between 320kbps, and 1411kbps... even cymbals.

128 vs. 192 you can hear a difference, especially cymbals.

256 vs. 320 almost no difference.

im glad people feel better than thier peers because they listen to thier favorite bands archaic multi-colored/and or see through vinyl music disc in one room of thier house.
high five.
i admit there have been some split 7"s that i have wanted and couldnt listen to, but i dont see that as a reason to buy a record player.
and if i did, it wouldnt make me feel better than anyone else listening to music on cd.
just like how i dont feel better riding my ten speed fucking cannondale mountain bike purchased from the the bike barn on rt 18 in whitman massachusetts than the people at 'spinning' class at gold's gym riding on bikes that dont go anywhere.

dont the needles cost alot of money if they break because they are made from DIAMONDS?

first of all learn how to spell.
second of all, you appreciate music more than anyone else cuz yer a dingbat and own a few 7inch records?
Big fucking deal...Ill tell ya about appreciating music.

Give up the life you know, to drive 50 miles round trip everyday, to play it. then, pay 500 dollars a month to fund that playing. Then try to get people to get to your shows, so that you can get your music known.
What do you do when you get home from work? relax? listen to music?
I dont. I rush home to shower and head right back out the door to practice all night. then get up and do the same thing again the next day. Over and Over.
Does your family life suffer from your love of music?? Mine does!
theres times that I shoulda been home with the fam, but I went to band practice or a band event, instead.
Now, who dosent appreciate music as much as you because you have a record album of your favorite underground band?

actually, i think that response made perfect sense. i dont care about daughters/locust/nextshittyband or care about how i might be percieved as a elitist because i go out of my way to find rare records by my favorite bands. i collect kiss toys, too. i guess that makes me feel "better than my peers". because no one can get something for the pure enjoyment of having it. i dont flash my record collection and i dont have peers. i associate with a few assholes and i spend most of my check on records and horror movies. jesus christ, i should kill myself.

There's nothing really wrong with it if you're doing it because you like the music. But it seems like most bands are latching onto Youth Crew because of its popularity. Anyway, I think if you are going to play older style music because you love it you need to avoid falling into the trap of being a mere tribute band and actually do something interesting with your music.

it's like DIGITAL vs. ANALOG.

it's all preference, and opinion.

This thread is dumb. Records are the analog recording. CDs are the 16 bit Digital interpretation of the recording. Stop being dumb and naive.

I really don't care, hahahaha, I just wanted to add my 2 cents so people would pay attension to me.

All That Remains is pretty metalcore, but they are good, so there can be good metalcore, there just isn't really.

The point of this?

Well...

Be a man Hulk, Be a man.

About the whole 24 bit CD thing; It is impossible for all 24 bits to be recorded onto a cd. I'm currently going through all that right now. Data cds can hold 24 bits but if you want to make an actual audio cd it can only hold 16.

Records are usually 32 bits.

who cares about cd's, HOVER BIKES!

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 7,2006 1:41pm
um... dissector, records aren't any bits.. if you wanted to represent a record, you would have infinite bits since it's analog.

Before this goes any further, I just want everyone to remember that xmikex's favorite local bands were Back of tha neck (metalcore) and in dire need (metalcore).

Okay continue to whatever this thread is about because I didn't read any posts.
