New site? Maybe some day.
|
I got contacted by a band from Brazil who wants to tour the US, and I want to help them, but I looked at a plane ticket from Rio to Boston, for 5 people it was $4,880. Which means with a 100 dollar guarantee, 49 gigs. How feasible is such an endeavour?
I was thinking if I paired them with one of my bands, and try for a 200 dollar guarantee, but what band would want to tour DIY style for 2 months?
Opinions? |
|
I personally don't think I could handle a 2 month DIY style tour...Would be really difficult to handle. |
|
uh $200 for a DIY band? better luck doing $150 for a club band.
plus if %50 of those shows fall through, or something makes them draw less than expected, that's a lot of money to fall to the wayside. With 49 days, that's almost 2 months of work, if not more, plus down time and days off. That's a big venture.
I wish I could say something about it being a good venture but it's HIGH HIGH Risk. |
|
I know it's way more then I could ever do alone, I'd rather do like 20-30 dates and have them lose some money.
I told them they will most likely lose money. |
|
I forgot their name, I will make you a copy of what they send me in the mail.

I am going to tell them the most I can do is a 20 date tour, which they would definately lose money on. If they can afford it I think it would be worth it for them, travelling to America and getting some of the money back by doing something they love.

|
that seems like a good call. |
|
I think you're dreaming, why would you want to bring a band from Brazil which you can't even remember the name? |

cause brazil is the new sweden.

A tour like this is gonna have do a lot basement shows and you rarely get a guarantee from that.
Your financial math only works if they eat only in soup kitchens and hitchhike everywhere. Its hard for 4 spics carrying instruments to hitch a ride in the U.S.
