i think it's due to the timing since you knowingly or not jumped onto the ol' trendwagon. getting into something at the same time as the general populous is not elite in any useful way to those who think that hobbies and interests are a relay race that warrants a "FIRST" comment on youtube but somehow is actually meaningful to their pride receptors and general sense of wellbeing.
