Also, the dates for Clovis are often argued to precede that -- and those are Europeans.

This debate like many others is far from settled.

Further, "this country" does not resemble the American Indian society. It's different and some would argue better. Considering that American Indians occupied less than 1% of the terrain, I think "this country" can be differentiated from "this land mass."
