I just drove 250 miles down to this show from central Maine and got kicked out after being there for about a minute and a half. Apparently my camera looked "too professional" for the security guard at the door, even though this is an upstairs show and from my past experiences at The Palladium and what I've been told, no photo pass is needed for an upstairs show like this. I've shot for my website (http://lanimilbus.com ) five seperate times here, and only once have I had/needed a photo pass (it was for a downstairs show.)
Anyway, the guy at the door went and consulted some other Palladium staff member, then came back and told me that it was fine, I could go in because whoever he consulted told him that I didn't need a pass for this show since it was upstairs. So, after being shortchanged by the guy at the box office (I ignored it since I wanted to catch Genghis Tron's set), I went in, moved to the front, got my camera out and took exactly one picture before three security guards surrounded me and motioned me out to the lobby. Apparently somebody had changed their mind and decided that I couldn't shoot there after all, so I was asked to put my camera back in my car. So I left, put the camera away and checked into my hotel (which is within walking distance of the palladium) which is where i am now. I guess I'll go back in another hour or so to catch The Red Chord's set (assuming they let me back in), but the fact that I wasn't allowed in with the exact same camera that I've used to shoot here five times previously is pretty lame.
From the 45 seconds or so that I caught of Genghis Tron's set they were pretty good, though.
