opeth (http://www.opeth.com) is working on their newest release
"The plan is to release separate Cd's at the same time, one heavy, one mellow. The heavy Cd will be typical Opeth with all it's ingredients including mellow parts, while the "mellow" Cd will have more laid back material. The band is currently hard at work writing.
No titles have been confirmed to this day but we'll keep you updated on everything regarding this matter. (from opeth.com)"
Anal Cunt. oh my god! they are dead?
ANAL CUNT as of December 21, the band has called it quits - according to the A.C. website: "There will be no more new recordings, no shows, no 15th anniversary show, nothing. No particular reason except it's boring, and it's run its course. No ones mad at each other, no fights, it's just over." (from www.metalupdate.com)

Arizona's VEHEMENCE Sign With Metal Blade Records - Dec. 31, 2001
VEHEMENCE, a self-proclaimed “chaotic melodic death metal” band from Phoenix, Arizona, have inked a deal with Metal Blade Records and have entered The Salt Mine Studio in Mesa, Arizona to begin recording their debut album for the label, tentatively entitled God Was Created. The follow-up to 2000's The Thoughts From Which I Hide will contain 10 songs and will be released in the spring. In other news, a demo version of VEHEMENCE's track “Fantasy From Pain” will be featured on Metal Blade's upcoming compilation/sampler CD, entitled Uncorruputed Steel, due in late February. The CD, which is being issued in celebration of the label's 20 years in business, will include contributions from the group's recent signings as well as label veterans dating back to the early '80s. VEHEMENCE's cut, entitled “Fantasy From Pain”, can be downloaded from this location. Arizona metalheads can check out VEHEMENCE opening for AMON AMARTH and MARDUK at the Mason Jar in Phoenix on February 3rd.

Originally scheduled for a September release, the 6 song (three by each band) release features the technical metal stylings complete with screamed vocals of Arizona's Structure of Lies and the ultra brutal deathgrind of New Hampshire's iRANACH.
