Subject: Daughters post new video, less sex
Posted by: Daughters post new video, less sex by the_reverend on Jan 14,2019 10:22am
Jan. 14, 2018, Providence, R.I. – Daughters, who saw their new album, You Won’t Get What You Want, place on year-end best of lists from NPR, Pitchfork, Consequence of Sound and more, kick off the new year with the premiere of their video for “Less Sex” via Rolling Stone (https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/daughters-band-nsfw-less-sex-video-776475/).

The clip was directed by former bandmate Jeremy Wabiszczewicz. Singer Alexis Marshall said of the enduring partnership, “More than a decade after Jeremy was a founding member of Daughters, he proposed an intriguing concept for a ‘Less Sex’ video, dark and unnerving, to match the mood the song carries with it. To say we are pleased with the end result would be an egregious understatement. Our dear friend has gone all out and with that, provided us with a visual accompaniment that, quite simply, floors us with every viewing.”

The video arrives as the band is prepping for their first North American tour in support of You Won’t Get What You Want, with the four-week outing kicking off on Feb.16 in Philadelphia.

Daughters is vocalist Alexis Marshall, guitar player Nick Sadler, drummer Jon Syverson and bass player Sam Walker. Following the release of their 2010 self-titled album, the band took an indefinite hiatus, returning in 2013 for a pair of sold-out hometown shows in Providence, and a subsequent smattering of live dates in the intervening years, including joining Dillinger Escape Plan for that band’s final live outings in December of 2017. The foursome released You Won’t Get What You Want in October of 2018 via Ipecac Recordings. The 11-song collection has quickly become one of 2018’s most well-received albums, with fans and critics worldwide marveling at Daughters’ bold return. In addition to praise and year-end accolades from Stateside outlets like Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Revolver, Brooklyn Vegan and others, Canada’s Exclaim Magazine said the album is “By far their most dynamic offering, Daughters have pulled off one of the great comeback albums and further cemented themselves as a band with such singular creativity that they're nearly peerless.” Classic Rock (UK) echoed those thoughts, saying “Daughters have never sounded so strong and they’ve never got it so right.”
